Major Electrical: SS45 Transformer Testing & Condition Assessment

The Challenge

Major Electrical needed comprehensive testing and condition assessment of their SS45 transformer to ensure safe, reliable operation. The work required both oil analysis and high-voltage primary injection testing using specialist equipment and expertise.

Our Approach

Deftec delivered a two-stage testing programme combining transformer oil sampling with primary injection testing using a CPC100 Primary Injection Test Set. This approach allowed us to evaluate both the transformer’s insulating fluid condition and its electrical performance under controlled load conditions, providing a complete picture of asset health. Our Electrical Engineering team managed the full scope, coordinating on-site testing at Major Electrical’s Mackay facility to minimise operational disruption.

The Outcome

The testing programme equipped Major Electrical with critical condition data to make informed decisions about transformer maintenance and operational planning.
