Aquila Bulk Scanner: ACV002 Sensor and Cable Replacement
The Challenge
Aquila, operating an underground mining operation, needed to replace a Sick bulk scanner sensor and associated cabling on their ACV002 conveyor system. The replacement required not only hardware swap-out but also complete re-integration with their existing PLC and SCADA infrastructure to ensure the system functioned reliably in their production environment.
Our Approach
Deftec provided a comprehensive two-phase solution combining field electrical work with control system engineering. Our team deployed an onsite electrician for two days to handle the physical replacement of the LMS511-20190 sensor and YF2Z15 and YM2D24 cables, while simultaneously developing custom PLC code and Citect SCADA code to integrate the new sensor into their control network. We pre-commissioned the bulk scanner on surface before underground installation to validate configuration, then completed full onsite commissioning over a further two days to ensure seamless operation within their existing system architecture.
The Outcome
The ACV002 system was successfully returned to operation with the new bulk scanner fully integrated and tested. By combining electrical installation with software development and commissioning, we delivered a turnkey solution that minimised downtime and eliminated integration risk for a critical production asset.
