Anglo-Aquila: Compressors 1 and 2 Cabling Replacement

Underground Mining

The Challenge

Anglo-Aquila needed to replace damaged primary cabling on two critical compressor units, with underground conduit systems that required careful remediation before new cable installation. The project demanded precision electrical work coordinated with site shutdown scheduling and compliance with working-at-heights requirements.

Our Approach

Deftec delivered a comprehensive cabling solution involving the supply and installation of 185mm2 XLPE cable and 70mm2 earth conductors across both compressor units---totalling 840 metres of primary cable. Our scope included removal of the damaged cabling, cleaning and preparation of underground conduit systems, termination of resized conductors, and full system testing. The work was executed by a qualified electrical team (supervisor and apprentice) over four 12-hour shifts, supported by specialist equipment including vacuum truck services for conduit preparation and elevated work platforms to ensure site safety compliance.

The Outcome

The project restored reliable power distribution to both compressor units with upgraded cable capacity, reducing infrastructure bottlenecks and supporting ongoing operational demands. By coordinating all trades, materials, and compliance requirements in a single engagement, Deftec minimised downtime and delivered a turnkey solution that left Anglo-Aquila with fully tested, compliant electrical infrastructure.
